BLUES FOR ALTO SAX

Doru motoc

Premiere in 8 Agust ,2021 Experimental Theatre Tirana, Albania

Directed by  Adonis Filipi

“Everything that happened was inevitable, and what did not happen was impossible.”

From this philosophical perspective, the realms of spirituality and art know no boundaries. Even in the face of physical limitations, it is precisely music—the alto saxophone—that becomes the key to imagination and freedom.

Through the imaginative theater of Doru Motoc, we are brought closer to this poetic truth via the tragic fate of a musician, imprisoned after accidentally taking the life of a friend. In the voice of the saxophone, he discovers a lifeline to transcend reality and revive his spirit. With each note, the walls around him seem to dissolve, and the weight of guilt eases slightly from his shoulders. In the silent shadows of his confinement, the saxophone’s melody becomes his only light, guiding him toward a freedom of mind and soul that no prison can contain.

The performance, “Blues for Alto sax”, an Albanian independent production by director Adonis Filipi, is considerably more striking, primarily due to a more valuable textual departure (Doru Motoc).
